Snack Easy Series # 7

January 16, 2017

Hi Guys! Happy Monday and Happy MLK Day:)

It’s been a few months since I’ve done a Snack Easy roundup so I think we’re long overdue for one.

I didn’t realize it until I had all of the snacks together, but clearly I was going for some kind of tropical theme. I think my subconscious is telling me I need a vacation. Until that time, these tropical treats will have to do. Lucky for me they’re delicious. Read on to find out my thoughts about each one.

Snack: Atkins Coconut Almond Bars

Purchased from: Walmart

Price: $6.98 (ouch)

Repeat Purchase: Yes

This is supposed to be a meal replacement bar, which may explain the higher cost but for me it’s more of a snack. I love them though. They’re so good. No diet or protein bar taste here. And as a self-proclaimed fiber snob, these bars get a thumbs up for having a total of 10 grams each. That’s hard to beat. Bonus points for portability. Even with the higher price tag, I’d buy these again because they come through in terms of taste and nutrition. I’ll just have to wait until I get a full-time job before I can purchase them with any kind of regularity!

Snack: Harvest Snaps Black Bean Mango Chili Lime Crisps

Purchased from: Walmart

Price: $1.50

Repeat Purchase: Yes

I really like the flavor of these. You can definitely taste the mango, chili, and lime. They’re great as a snack on their own or as an accompaniment to a wrap or sandwich. One serving has 120 calories and 4 grams of fiber which is a good bit of fiber for a snack bad. I’d definitely buy these again (already have).

Snack: Kashi Chewy Nut Butter Coconut Cashew Macaroon Bars

Purchased from: Walmart

Price: $3.48

Repeat Purchase: Yes

These are a new Kashi product that I stumbled across when I was picking up some cereal at Walmart. I’m so glad I did because they’re delicious. So funny story. When I took my first bite of the bar, I thought oh these are pretty good. Then after a few more bites I was like wow, these are really good lol. The flavor kind of creeps up on you. I got some other flavors, but this is the only one I’ve tried. If this one is any indication though I’m excited to try the others. One bar has 150 calories, 2 grams of fiber, and 3 grams of protein. I see it as a great alternative to fulfilling a sweet craving, but keeping it healthier. I think Kashi nailed it. The bar is pretty average in size as you can see, but it’s a bit denser and chewier which makes it heartier than I was expecting. Get it!

Snack: Goji Berry Pistachio Artisan Berry Crisps

Purchased from: Aldi

Price: $3.99

Repeat Purchase: No

While I liked the way these crisps tasted, I didn’t find the flavor to be that distinctive from other flavors that I’ve tried of these types of crisps. Nutritionally, these are pretty neutral. The box lists 4-5 crisps as a serving, which has 70 calories. Because of that, I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy this particular flavor again.

Snack: Sunkist Guava Chili Mango Trail Mix Blend

Purchased from: Walmart

Price: $2.98

Repeat Purchase: Yes

I’m not a huge trail mix person but when I saw what was in these I had to give them a try. They’ve got dried guava, pineapple, chili mango, cranberries, cashews, and almonds. Yum! These would make for a great travel snack since the bag is relatively compact and resealable. While the protein and fiber are negligible, calorically, these aren’t as high as other trail mixes – only 120 calories in a 1/4 cup serving. I would purchase these again. The bag has five servings so with a price tag of $4 that about 80 cents per serving which isn’t bad.

Overall, the two coconut bars are tied for my favorite. I just can’t choose lol. What things have you all been snacking on lately? Drop me a note below.
