Happy Monday Guys!
Three day weekends are a thing of beauty. I’ve spent mine researching jobs, applying for jobs, and praying for a job (Ha!). But not just any job, the job that God is preparing just for me (or better yet, is preparing me for it). I also did some work for my summer research gig, and picked up brunch to go from this restaurant called Relish in Raleigh that I checked out last weekend. Their food is good!
It’s been a little while since my last Go Gymless post and I couldn’t leave you hanging. Especially not now, since this weekend marks the unofficial start to summer.
Today it’s a workout by Tracey Mallett. You may have heard of her Booty Barre workouts but she has other workouts as well including this Functional Intensity Training one. Keep on reading to hear my thoughts about it!
Quick and Dirty:
Areas worked out: Total body
Equipment: A set of weights you feel comfortable with. For some of the moves I use 8, others I use 5, and one I use 3.
Length: 72 minutes (3 parts: Part 1: 33, Part 2: 27, Part 3: 12)
Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Extra Details:
Hardest Part: Personally, I find the beginning of workout 1 and the beginning of workout 2 to be the most challenging. It’s kind of nice though to get through the toughest parts of the workouts at the beginning.
Noise level: These workouts do involve some jumping moves (e.g. high knees) but there aren’t too many of these so you could reasonably move to a quieter space if you have downstairs neighbors to contend with. Alternatively, you can try working out when they’re not home (assuming you know when that is).
Instructor: Tracey is in it with you from beginning to end. There are no background exercisers so all eyes are on her. She gets serious respect for that. I also appreciate how upbeat and motivating she is throughout (although I didn’t necessarily feel that way in the beginning). It makes you feel like you have a workout buddy.
Music: Not particularly memorable but that works for me.
Dread Factor: There’s a little bit of dread factor for this workout but not too much. There used to be quite a bit when I first started doing it, but as I’ve built up my endurance it’s gone down significantly.
BUT…
I love doing this workout because I feel like I got a great workout in for the day once I’m done.
Sweat: You will be sweating with this one. Not obscenely, but certainly noticeably.
So there you have it. Now go forth and sweat!
Happy Memorial Day to you all. And thank you to the men and women who serve in the military to protect our rights and freedoms.
