There are some weeks where I feel like I earned my Friday. So much happens and time moves so slowly that by the end of the week I’m wiped out. Other weeks I feel like Friday just falls into my lap. Last week was the former.
I started off the week stressed about work. Tuesday was better. Wednesday I was stressed about work again. Thursday was better. Friday I was stressed about work again. By Friday at 5 I was ready to leap into the weekend.
Between not sleeping well and a roller coaster ride of emotions I was exhausted. It felt great to sleep in on Saturday and Sunday.
This week will be better. There’s a kickoff meeting for a new project that I’m leading. The timeline is tight but I feel better because I know what’s coming.
Aside from that I’m continuing to work on publishing my dissertation papers, trying (and failing at the moment) to not procrastinate on a R&R for another paper (this will change), and planning my fall birthday trip in my spare moments as an escape.
A part of planning has also been thinking about what I’m going to wear. I often find myself wearing something one day and saying ‘Oh I’m definitely taking this with me.’ At this point it looks like I’ll be taking a good chunk of my closet. It’s a mess lol. Since I want to leave as much space as possible in my suitcase to bring stuff back I know I’m going to have to pare down. Like packing a small but versatile set of shoes, tops, bottoms, and one-piece outfits.
However, I can say with confidence that these shoes are coming with me. They’re thoroughly broken in, comfortable enough for a day of exploring, and they’re really cute. This backpack will also be coming with me. I love the idea of a backpack for travel so I can be hands free as I walk around. I got this leather Michael Kors one from Marshalls late last year. It’s great quality and has a simple yet elegant design. I checked and I can fit my wallet, a small bottle of water, my DSLR, sunglass case, and cell phone – all the travel essentials.
This dress isn’t a guarantee but it’s certainly a contender. It’s light and breezy, comfortable, and won’t take up a lot of space in a suitcase. Bonus points for not having to deal with buttons in public bathroom situations. Public bathrooms are the worst aren’t they?!
