Happy Monday Guys! It’s March so spring is upon us, but it’s not here quite yet. The weather has been in the 70’s for a little bit, but it’s come back down to the low 60’s which is fine with me. I’m not ready for 70+ degree weather now. Let’s ease into it.
Hey Guys. I don’t know about you but it was a struggle getting out of bed this morning. After I did and finished my workout, I felt like a serious champ. *Cue Beyonce hair flip.* Surviving a Monday is good for the morale.
Now, on to today’s post. I’ve got Pt. 4 of the Crush Comps series. Since it’s the last installment, I’m going out with a bang by sharing 12 things you should and shouldn’t be doing in the final week before your exams.
Studying for comps or qualifying exams can be very mentally (and yes, even physically) demanding. To do your best you need to be at your best, so you must take care of your health. This means eating foods that serve your body well, moving your body to counteract all of the sedentary time spent reading and writing, resting when needed, and having a strong support system.
As a student preparing for your comprehensive or qualifying exams, consider routines to be a must. I know they don’t sound terribly exciting or sexy, but they’re an important component of any effective exam prep strategy. Without a routine or schedule you’re left to improvise your day as it happens. This is a bad idea because you can inadvertently waste a lot of time trying to decide what you should be doing instead of just “doing.”
It was May 2016 and I had just wrapped up the second year of my PhD program. I met up with a group of friends to commemorate the occasion with a late Sunday morning brunch. We used that time to release the stresses of a particularly challenging semester. One of the ladies would be graduating so we celebrated with her while laughing and talking for hours. On the drive back home I blasted some music thinking about how I would use some new spices I just bought. Summer was in full swing.
Happy Monday Guys! And Happy New Year!
I was on FaceTime with my sister earlier and she joked how things with 2017 on it already seem so outdated. Out with the old, and in with the new! Onward to 2018.
A new year brings with it the excitement of new dreams, new opportunities, and new adventures. Vision boards are made with references to health, peace, and prosperity. This is going to be the year I finally…fill in the blank – start my own business, travel more, meet the love of my life, lose those 10 pounds, etc. There’s nothing wrong with any of that.
